To that end we are members of the following associations and are keen to play our part in supporting the following Australian and New Zealand Road Safety Strategies.

WMRR

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) is the national peak body for the $15bn waste and resource recovery industry.

SGESCO-MAX has worked closely with the waste management industry for over two decades providing innovative safety solutions for companies like SUEZ, Cleanaway, Transurban, and JJ Richards, as well as local councils and their waste management departments. Our involvement has driven our creation of world-class heavy vehicle safety solutions in the areas of anti-rollaway, reversing sensors and more recently blind spot monitoring.

NRSPP

The Australian National Road Safety Partner Program (NRSPP)  supports Australian businesses in developing a positive road safety culture.

NRSPP has 120 organisational partner members, with SGESCO-MAX becoming their first vehicle safety technology partner in 2021. The organisation encourages better practice, innovation and shared learning, with SGESCO-MAX onboard to provide technical advice on heavy vehicle safety solutions. NRSPP has been instrumental in advancing CLOCS-A – Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Australia – inspired by the UK CLOCS initiative which dramatically reduced deaths and injuries to VRUs. Here, in Australia, SGESCO-MAX is an active member of the CLOCS-A Technical Group 3.

NZ TRUCKING ASSOCIATION

NZ Trucking Association is the voice for trucking operators throughout New Zealand, working with local councils , government agencies including NZTA, Worksafe, ACC and other industry stakeholders on common issues.

NZTA works in NZ and across the Tasman (i.e. Australia), to collaborate and share resources that benefit New Zealand operators. This includes championing safety programs including designing and running community and industry programs that include truck road safety, truck driver health and wellbeing, careers and industry meetings and conferences.

Their recent Trucking Industry Summit on 30 July 2022 in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, was attended by SGESCO-MAX’s Managing Director, Scott McPherson.

MOTOR TRADES ASSOCIATION OF QUEENSLAND

The Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) is the peak body representing the interests of employers in the retail, service and repair sectors of Queensland’s automotive industry.

Servicing the automotive industry since 1929 in different guises, SGESCO-MAX joined the organisation in 1976 when SGESGO-MAX had three workshops around Brisbane. As part of the association SGESCO-MAX provided automotive apprenticeships over several decades. Today the MTA Institute is the largest private provider of automotive apprenticeships and training in Queensland.

SGESCO-MAX is an active member of the Automotive Engineers Division and values the MTA Queensland’s work with state and federal governments, and other decision-makers, to shape policy development and ensure positive outcomes for the industry.

NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY STRATEGY – AUSTRALIA

A joint federal, state and territory initiative the National Road Safety Strategy aims to reduce Australia’s annual number of fatalities by at least 50 per cent by 2030 (from 1200 per annum in 2020) and to reduce the annual number of serious injuries by at least 30 per cent by 2030 (from 40,000 in 2020.)

The ultimate goal is to put Australia on a path to achieve Vision Zero by 2050. The strategy seeks to target improvements in 3 key areas: Safe roads, Safe vehicles and Safe road use. Speed management is embedded within all three.

These improvements are mapped to 9 priority areas (10 counting speed) with SGESCO-MAX actively delivering solutions in four key areas: Heavy Vehicle Safety, Workplace Road Safety, Protecting Vulnerable Road users and Speed management.

ROAD TO ZERO – NEW ZEALAND

Road To Zero is Aotearoa – New Zealand’s vision for 2050 where no one is killed or seriously injured in road crashes.

As a step towards achieving this vision, New Zealand has set a target reducing deaths and serious injuries by 40% by 2030. Based on 2017 figures, New Zealand’s death toll is 7.9 people per 100,000, compared to Australia’s 5 per 100,000.

The country will be targeting in five key areas with SGESCO-MAX aiming to assist with vehicle safety and work-related road safety.
