FIRST VEHICLE SAFETY TECH DEVELOPER TO JOIN

15 May 2021

SGESCO-MAX is excited to become the first vehicle safety technology partner of the NRSPP (National Road Safety Partner Program) – an Australian industry initiative that supports Australian businesses in developing a positive road safety culture.

Launched in 2014, the NRSPP now has over 100 organisational partner members committed to championing the benefits of road safety and encouraging better practice, innovation and shared learning.

The organisation provides extensive resources via webinars, videos and other content on a website hosted by Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). It has also been instrumental in bringing the London Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety’ (CLOCS) Standard to Australia and advocating for its adaption and eventual voluntary adoption by the Australian construction industry.

This standard which has been hugely successful in the UK can provide a consistent approach for infrastructure construction projects to mitigate vulnerable road user (VRU) risks. Already some Australian metropolitan councils are implementing parts of this standard to help protect VRUs, the community, workers and truck drivers.

VISION ALIGNMENT

In speaking of their decision to join NRSPP, Managing Director of SGESCO-MAX, Scott McPherson, said his organisation wholeheartedly supported NRSPP’s vision.

“We see ourselves being closely aligned to their cause, wanting to reduce accident and injury caused by heavy and commercial vehicles – which represent around 20% of the vehicles on Australia’s road yet can cause more serious damage when involved in a crash.

“Equally, we are cognisant of the growing need to find better ways to protect VRUs,” said Scott. “Having worked for close to twenty years with several clients in this area, for example SUEZ and Cleanaway Waste Management companies, we share their safety management goals to find better solutions to protect drivers, passengers and VRUs.”

To that end, SGESCO-MAX has pioneered the MAX-SAFE® range of advanced heavy vehicle safety solutions that cover: Anti-Rollaway, Blind Spot Monitoring, Vulnerable Road User Protection, Occupant Safety, Speed Limiting and RPM Control.

PRODUCTIVE PARTNERSHIP DEDICATED TO ROAD SAFETY

“In joining the National Road Safety Partner Program we aim to learn from, contribute and assist partner member organisations and their various networks in our mutual goal to eliminate serious injury and death from work-related vehicle crashes,” said Scott.

“We look forward to sharing with organisations the technology solutions we currently provide and in the pipeline – and also collaborating with members to better understand emerging safety issues and how we might respond through advanced technological solutions, related training and information management systems.

Jerome Carslake, NRSPP Program Director at Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC), said the organisation was very happy to have SGESCO-MAX join as a partner. “We think CLOCS-A could really draw on your innovation that has been applied in this sector already, particular with regards to heavy vehicles.
